Think about your grade school history class for a moment. Remember what they called the people who were the first to arrive in a new land? They were called “settlers.”

Today, we don’t have many “settlers of the land” because most of the Earth has been explored. But we have many “settlers of the heart.”

These are people who have settled for less than they want in life. They want something more, but the pain involved in being more successful is too great to bear.

This question is uncomfortable, but try to answer it honestly. Are you settling?

If the answer is yes, I want you to know that the pain and struggle are worth it. When you decide to stop settling, you will lose friends and family who can’t handle your success.

That’s what happened to me. When I changed my life, I began to lose a lot of friends. They didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t content to be a settler anymore.

You get one shot at life, and you can’t live it for somebody else. There is no reason to be miserable if you can have more happiness and success.

In my business, we work with many women whose husbands are not supportive. These women want to achieve more for themselves and their families, but the husbands aren’t on board. That presents a difficult choice.

Everyone’s situation is different, but I do know this; if you don’t have the support of the people in your life, it’s much harder to be successful. Sometimes you have to make the difficult choice to cut ties and move on.

You only get one shot at this life. Don’t you owe it to yourself to make the most of it?

It’s tempting to settle. It’s tempting to stay comfortable in your current reality. But five or ten years from now, will you be happy with the life you settled for?

It takes guts to answer that question honestly. It takes courage to break out of your comfort zone and do hard things.

But it’s absolutely necessary if you want to live at your full potential. And when you do, you’ll experience a joy and satisfaction like you’ve never felt before!

Ask yourself honestly: Are you settling in life?

If so, what is one hard thing you can do today to help you break out of your comfort zone?
