Something that tends to be forgotten is how important the way we speak to ourselves is.

That’s right, ourselves.

The way we speak to others is always a lesson always easily remembered, but we frequently forget about ourselves.

Whether you tell yourself a lie, or you tell yourself the truth – you believe it.

Your mind can’t really tell what is a lie and what is a truth, it just believes whatever YOU tell it. If you tell yourself that you’re amazing enough times, you are going to believe it. However, if you tell yourself that you suck, you’re eventually going to believe that as well – even though that you know that isn’t true.

How would God speak to you? He would tell you that you are amazing, you are a blessing, you have so much to offer. That is the way that we should be speaking to ourselves. We should be lifting ourselves up, not tearing ourselves down. We are our own biggest supporters.

Another important thing is that our children need to hear how we lift ourselves up, how we try to surround ourselves with positivity. Positivity will help them grow and flourish, it will also teach them how to hold themselves up and make sure they are never treated like anything less than amazing.

As an adult, my self-talk matters. The way  I speak to myself changes who I become, how I talk, how I react, how I interact, what I teach my daughter, what I teach my bonus daughter – it all matters.

When I was a teenager and in my early 20’s, I lacked self-confidence. I felt like I didn’t deserve nice things, I didn’t deserve to be spoiled. Then I learned that how I talk to myself matters. My upbringing, my past, doesn’t define who I am today and it doesn’t define who I will be in five years.

I’m in control of who I am going to be right now, I’m in control of who I am going to be in ten years. I’m in control of how I respond to situations, I’m in control of how I interact with others. I’m in control of the way I view myself and speak to myself. I’m in control of the environment my children are raised in.

I’m in control.

Do you ever think “Oh my gosh that would never happen to me, its only something that happens to other people”? Well let me tell you, it can happen to you too. If your dream is to write a book, start your own business, do nails, run a doggy camp, whatever your dream is – you’re capable of it. Your dreams don’t live through other people, they live through yourself.

It’s time you tell yourself that you’re worthy, that you’re going to go out there and crush your dreams.

You’re going to go live the life you deserve.
