“When you focus on problems, you’ll have more problems. When you focus on possibilities, you’ll have more opportunities.”-Zig Ziglar
“Let your imagination release your imprisoned possibilities.” – Robert Schuller
“Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.” – Unknown
Growing up, most of us heard phrases like: “You can be anything you want when you grow up,” you can do anything you put your mind to,” Sky’s the limit,” Anything’s possible.”
Why is it as we age, we start to believe things like this less? We tend to settle for ordinary, comfortable, and easy. It seems we lose our ability to truly believe in ourselves and our capabilities. We focus more on what we have done wrong instead of focusing on what we get right. Failure starts to take more of our focus over success. We put ourselves into boxes of what we think we can do and tend to stop dreaming and scheming about what more we want or are capable of.
Stop and ask yourself, if you could have any job you wanted, what would it be? If you could live anywhere you wanted, where would it be? If you could learn any skill you’ve dreamed of, what would it be? What things are on your bucket list?
Write your answers down and then ask yourself why haven’t you gone for it? What self-limiting beliefs have you created that are stopping you?
Sometimes life’s circumstances stop us from reaching the aspirations we have. But sometimes its solely because we tell ourselves it’s impossible and then don’t take the steps it takes to get there.
If it was a possible dream as a child, why is it so hard as an adult to still believe? What steps do you need to take to reach it? Make a plan of action and GO FOR IT!! There is never a perfect time, no matter what the dream or possibility is. And it only remains just a dream if you put no action behind it. The moment you decide to grasp life and take action, you make it a POSSIBILITY or an OPPORTUNITY.
