Memorial Day is so much more than a long weekend, cookouts, lake days, beer, or sales at stores.
And honestly, I think sometimes we forget that.
We get caught up in the extra day off without stopping to think about WHY we even have the freedom to enjoy that day in the first place.
Freedom is something most of us wake up and experience every single day without even realizing it.
The freedom to choose the life we want.
The freedom to speak our minds.
The freedom to start over.
To build businesses.
To raise our kids how we choose.
To chase goals and dreams.
To gather with family.
To disagree.
To vote.
To live openly.
To wake up every day with opportunities that so many people in this world don’t have.
And none of that came free.
There are men and women who sacrificed their lives for people they would never even meet.
People who missed birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and time with their families… all so generations after them could experience the freedoms we now consider “normal.”
That kind of sacrifice deserves more than just a social media post once a year.
It deserves remembrance.
Gratitude.
Perspective.
So yes, enjoy the weekend.
Enjoy the food.
Enjoy your family.
Enjoy the laughter and memories.
But also remember WHY you’re able to.
Because freedom was paid for by people who never made it home.
And that should never be forgotten. 🇺🇸
