Thanksgiving is less than a week away….. HOW CRAZY!?
We tend to rush through this holiday and head straight for Christmas. We also tend to just focus on the stress of the day instead of what it should truly be about. What a blessing it is to have a nice meal and sit around with family and/or friends to share gratitude for our lives.
I encourage you, as we head into the holiday season, to step back and focus on the true meaning. Let the little stressors that don’t matter in the long run go. Take things off your task list and leave the unnecessary pressure behind.
This Thanksgiving before you enjoy your meal, have everyone write down 5 things they are grateful for, and 1 way they intend to show more gratitude and giving this Holiday season.
Post this list somewhere you see every day, and as the holidays get busy and stressful, read the list and remember the blessings in your life. Don’t look at this season as an imposition on your life, but instead a gift that allows you to share joy and giving with others.
When the lines at stores are long, be grateful you have the means to buy things and the time to be there.
When you feel stressed by the amount of food to cook or the amount of house to clean, be grateful you get to share a meal and space with others.
When you feel like the to do list is never ending, be grateful you have a life filled with opportunities and plans.
When the feelings of stress and overwhelmed hits this season, spin your perspective, take a deep breath in and pull to mind gratitude.
