Ever heard the phrase “Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!”?

Sometimes this happens to us, and we can either choose to continue the day in that headspace or turn it around. How you start your morning is pivotal for what energy and attitude you will have the rest of the day.

A good day begins with a good mindset. Don’t let yesterday’s troubles leak over in to today, today is a new opportunity for fresh beginnings. Wake up and commit to changing your attitude and be excited to take on the new day. We tell kids to turn their attitudes around and be excited for school, so why don’t we tell ourselves the same?

Weekend wake ups tend to seem way better than the work week; why live your life with only 2 good mornings a week? Change your daily morning routine so that every morning feels as good as the weekend. What does your morning routine look like now? Wake up tired, rushed, scrambling to get out the door, chugging a not so good cup of coffee, aggravated you must work, etc. etc.

Go to bed earlier, set yourself up for a well-rested wake up. Wake up earlier, allow yourself time to sip your coffee slow, to get some deep breaths and stillness in before chaos starts, to get some positive self-talk going before negativity sets in.

I challenge you this next week to commit to a new morning routine, to start the morning with habits that will set a brighter tone for the day.

Add these thoughts in to your new routine, maybe journal them or say them out loud as you get ready:

  1. One thing you are looking forward to
  2. Five people you are thankful for
  3. One accomplishment yesterday you are proud of
  4. One thing you like about the way you look
  5. Your intention for the day
