Most people spend a lot of time thinking about what they want to achieve.
The promotion.
The house.
The weight loss.
The relationship.
The financial freedom.
But not enough people stop to ask a different question:
What kind of impact do I want to make?
Because at the end of the day, people rarely remember our accomplishments as much as they remember how we made them feel.
Did you make people feel seen?
Did you make people feel stronger?
Did you inspire others to believe in themselves?
Did you show kindness when it wasn’t convenient?
Did you stand up for what was right when it would’ve been easier to stay silent?
The truth is, impact isn’t always found in grand gestures. Most of the time, it’s created through small moments that seem insignificant at the time.
A conversation that changed someone’s perspective.
A compliment that came on a day they desperately needed it.
A helping hand during a difficult season.
A decision to lead by example.
The impact you leave isn’t measured by how many people know your name. It’s measured by how many lives are better because you were part of them.
When I think about the kind of impact I want to make, it has very little to do with recognition. I want people to feel empowered. I want them to realize they’re capable of more than they think. I want them to walk away from an interaction with me feeling stronger, more hopeful, and more confident than they did before.
And the beautiful thing is that every single one of us gets to choose our impact.
Every day.
Through our words.
Through our actions.
Through how we show up when no one is watching.
So today, instead of asking yourself what you want to accomplish next, ask yourself this:
What do you want people to experience because you were here?
Your answer to that question may end up shaping your life far more than any goal ever could.
