Contentment- feeling satisfaction with one’s possessions, status, or situation. Find peace with what you have and more importantly with what you don’t have.

“Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” – Lao Tzu

We live in a world of self-help, improve this, change that, get better at this, try this way instead, etc etc. What if sometimes the status quo is enough as it is, without any change.

It is possible to be content with your body how it is and not feel the need to always try to lose weight, tone up, or add muscle. It is possible to be happy with the house you are in and the car you have, and not feel the need to upgrade.

It is possible to be content with the life you live and not feel the need to live any differently. It is possible to be content with your spouse and not feel the need to look if the grass is greener.

There are so many scenarios where sometimes just being content with how things are is a good thing and is enough. Sometimes change and growth is beneficial, but sometimes being happy with what we have and how life is going is great too.

“ I don’t have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness- it’s right in front of me if I’m paying attention and practicing gratitude.” – Brene Brown

This doesn’t mean to stop growing in areas that could use it, or to stop chasing success, it just simply is a reminder to sit back, look at your life and be grateful and happy for the areas that are content and going well.

There is nothing wrong with wanting more, but if you live your life in a constant state of seeking more, you’ll miss out on the greatness happening right now.

“Happiness is not a checklist. A dream job, a fast car, a good home, even love, mean nothing at all if you have not yet found a way to feel full and content in your own mind and heart.” – Beau Taplin
